The mystery of the removed Prestashop Stripe module – Solved

Download and Latest updates – Stripe Prestashop Module

Updated – The module was removed because the contract with Stripe has expired, scroll to the bottom for more info.

I recommended Stripe to a client a mere month ago, safe in the knowledge that adding Stripe would be easy. There’s am official module available for free, it just needs installing an setting up, no problem.

But this weekend, I wander over to the Prestashop website, and absolutely no sign of the module, anywhere. Did I dream it? I searched Google, found many a reference to the module in the forums, but all links just went to the Prestashop Addons homepage. Maybe it was a free module that someone released, but has since removed? I then found a interesting post, someone said they had Stripe in an earlier version of Prestashop, but not the latest. It most have been included in core Prestashop as a ‘partner module’.

Happily, Prestashop use Github to store their code. We can look at the commit history to see what happened.

Stripe Removed

That is, on the 27/12/13 the Stripe module was removed from the ‘Partner Modules’ – The modules that are already there on a Prestashop install.

So.. Why was Stripe removed from Prestashop? The commit message gives no clues. The module doesn’t appear on their site anywhere else, and there has been no official announcement, even the forum moderators are confused.

The industry partners page ( has been removed, redirected to their Payments page. – It seems PayPal who were a long time partner has also been removed. Have these contracts expired?

As it was on Git, I simply had to go back another commit to find the module, on version 0.9.7. I have added this to GitHub repository here –, and made an easy to use download link here -> Download Prestashop Stripe Module 0.9.7

I have checked the license, and I am allowed to redistribute this code under the Academic Free License.

I have asked on the Prestashop forums, why the module has been removed.

Thanks to Xavier for the response (Below, in comments). As he confirms, that contracts have not been renewed, so please enjoy the module above.

    Hi Ollie,

Thank you for your interest! The native module Stripe was removed from PrestaShop last december, as Stripe partenership with PrestaShop was not renewed for 2014.

You had it figured out 😉

    Have a good one. Best,

This works with that latest version 1.5.6 – and it seems to work with 1.4 with the compatibility module.

Thank You Ollie! I too thought that maybe I was dreaming… Glad I found a link to this blog, and the trail to follow to the module.

    HI Ollie
I’ve downloaded your stripe module, configured it, but it is not showing up on my website during checkout. I have SSL certificate, API keys are correct. All green.
I don’t know what could be the problem. Would you be able to take a look on my website and advice. I’m ready to pay for your service.

I have StripeJS 0.9.9 enabled and configured, but Stripe does not appear as a payment option. I have PrestaShop How can I fix this?

I looked in the database and saw that it didn’t have any hooks. I had uploaded the files manually. I deleted the module in the back office and then added the module thru the modules page and it worked. Thanks!

I love stripe payment service. Thank you for the updates you did.

I did a few tests in test mode but at checkout after payment there’s no order confirmation number

Can you please take a look and let me know if there’s something I can do or maybe you can do some changes in the code.

Also at checkout the submit button has no image (that’s before payment of course).

I also notices that in PS 1.6 the refund doesn’t work. Clicked on refund but nothing happens. The products are restocked but the amount paid is not and the status in not changed in REFUNDED.

When I tried to use the test card I get this error- There was a problem with your payment.

    Any idea where to look?

To use this module I just need to install the module in the backoffice and linked with my stripe account? or I have to do something more as install libraries or something like that?

Correct, just the module and you enter your stripe details in the backend. The module comes bundled with all dependencies.

Hello, I have a question, I installed the module and configured it, but I do not see it on the payment tab. I do see it in the restrictions section and it is checked just like the other modules. It does not appear under Active Payment. I am using v 1.02b of the stripe module. Thanks in advance, I am new to Prestashop so maybe I am missing something basic.

Tried installing on PS 1.6 It shows successfully added but does not show in the list of Modules and also does not show in the module directory.

Does this module work with the latest version of PrestShop? I will gladly pay you for the module if it works 100%. Thanks!

Thank you very much for sharing and you’re continued development :). Was just looking for something to test out on my own store.
